all my life i've been looking for the answers,to the questions you never asked, AND WE NEVER PLANNED ON THIS DISASTER, WHEN WILL I LET IT GO. Buzz. Buzz. Buuuzz. RIIIIIIIIIIIIINGGG.
"STUPID PHONE! SUCH KILLLJOYYYY!"
Scarlett floated - or rather, she bounced over to where her phone was half hanging off of the receiver, picked it up and slammed it back down again. It was the second time in three hours that her phone had decided to be a nuisance and come off of it's receiver. Okay that probably didn't sound too bad at all, but to a person such as Scarlett, under the influence of caffeine and bouncing around her home like that squirrel on crack; you know the one I mean? Yeah, that little awesome one in Hoodwinked, anyway, to a person such as Scarlett, yada yada, twice in three hours was enough to set her on edge and become wary of technical appliances that lay about in her home. Seven cups of coffee since this morning wasn't that bad was it? Was it...?
It probably was.
"THAT'S THE LAST TIME YOU INTERRUPTING MAH WORKS!" Yes, it definitely was. Now she was getting her words mixed up. Especially her prefixes, suffixes and endings. The paper she'd been staring at and occasionally writing on for the past couple of hours or so was... it was, well, uhm, there was no word for it. Absolutely none at all. Impossible to describe, so we'll just say that it's like a spidery sort of scrawl but not really if you get the gist of what I'm trying to say here? Though it was clearly apparent that she could care less about it if she was even completely honest with you. Scarlett had a knack for doing that. Actually she really needed to concentrate but it looked like that wasn't going to happen any time soon. Maybe she shouldn't have had those seven cups of coffee and those two cookies from the cookie jar. Perhaps then she'd have been able to concentrate and things would be going smoothly....
nah.
"Badumm, badumm, ooohhh, I wonder if anyone's online." Scarlett spun around on the spot twice, realised it made her dizzy and decided that it would be a better idea if she didn't spin around and walked like a normal person. Could it be? Was the coffee wearing off on her already? Was she no longer on a sugar ru-- "MEET ME HALF WAY, THAT'S WHERE I'M GONNA BE!" Yeahhhno, spoke too soon. Scarlett grabbed her laptop from it's usual place and skipped back into the kitchen with it, contemplating on getting yet another cup of coffee to add to her caffeine overdose. Fortunately the internet provided a much better form of entertainment and it wasn't too long before she'd forgotten about the coffee and was talking to Dallas and Delilah again.
Now, I know you’re wondering ‘what about Emily?’ and quite possibly, ‘where is Emily?’. Well, the four year old was quietly sitting in front of the TV watching My Little Pony and playing with her Barbie dolls, whilst Scarlett was busy acting like a five year old on crack.
Unable to really concentrate on what she wanted to do, and because the caffeine was still coursing through her veins, Scarlett announced to Dallas and Delilah that she was going to text her good friend Andy- which she did. Telling him that she wanted to see him and that Emily missed all the piggy backs he gave her. So, after a couple of text messages (it probably would have been a lot simpler if she’d called him instead), Scarlett shoved her phone into the pocket of her jean shorts; brushed her hair out of her eyes, stood up and announced to Emily that they were going to see ‘Andy’. The little girl was so excited she accidentally dropped one of her Barbie dolls headfirst into her juice cup and the other into the Dairylea snack pot she was munching on. Scarlett was a little more than ‘unable’ to control her laughter, but she managed to calm herself down as she walked out of the room to retrieve her car keys.
”So, I think we should get going now, Emmy; I told him we’d be there in ten.” Emily switched the TV off, picked up her drink and snack pot, placed them on the table and went to get her blue jelly shoes on- she was already dressed in jean shorts and a butterfly t-shirt. Less than two minutes later, Scarlett and Emily were bundled in the car and pulling out of the driveway in the shiny new car.
Five minutes later Scarlett was pulling up outside Andy’s house and Emily was pulling off her seatbelt and climbing out of the car. Killing the engine, the red head got out of the car as Emily skipped up Andy’s path and knocked on his door. ”UNCLE ANDY HERE WE ARE!” Scarlett smiled, leaning against the hood of her car with her arms folded across her chest. It was normal for Emily to call people ‘uncle’ or ‘auntie’. Especially Andy, apparently. Scarlett just waited patiently by the car for Andy to answer his door.

scarlett archer was one of the few people that andy would make room for in his increasingly busy schedule, due to working on his first solo album. the two had met way back in the day, years ago...back then they’d actually been in a band together, only one of andy’s numerous infamous bands that never stayed together too long. there were always creative differences. the music was too fast, too loud, andy wanted to slow it down. they were selling out, he wanted to play small shows. their lyrics needed more meaning. he was never happy unless he was on his own, and so that’s where he decided to stay as of late. at least when it came to his work. but he and scarlett had remained close nonetheless.
she was a sweet girl. and she had a four year old in his care...which lately, andy had kind of been trying to watch what she did with her. because - and this was a secret - andy was soon going to be a father. he hadn’t told anyone yet, it was still sinking in, and he’d only just found out the other day...he still didn’t really know how to take it. he didn’t know how to take care of a kid...maybe once he figured out what was going on and decided to actually tell people he could ask scarlett. but nonetheless. the man was sitting at his desk, a blank piece of paper in front of him, a pencil in hand, and several more pieces of paper next to him. all they had written on them was his name, or little doodles - basically he was failing. there was too much going on in his life at the moment to be able to focus on his music...his art. his baby. because now he was having a real baby, and he was having trouble getting a grasp on his thoughts a majority of the time.
ever instinct told him to ignore the text. that he was busy. and he was about to, about to just shut his phone off...until he saw the name flashing on it. there were a few names that would have caused him to open his phone (yes, he still had a lame flip phone...it was really old, but it did him well) as he found himself doing: roxanne’s, scarlett’s, or his father’s. i’m sure you can guess by now who it was, and after a few short text messages andy was glad to forget about his work for a few hours and go somewhere with scarlett and emily. and he made a mental note to watch what scarlett did with her - even though taking care of a new born was probably different than a four year old girl. but he was definitely not looking his best. while his hair was not in it’s long glory that it had been when he and scarlett had been in their little band, it was a bit longer than he usually kept it lately - he needed a cut. his white t-shirt had a few holes in it, and his jeans were ripped in the knee. not to mention the fact that he had one sock on. luckily because of roxanne’s neatness he knew exactly where his green high-tops were. and due to the fact that scarlett was going to be there soon - presumably in her new car - he just threw those on, ruffled his hair a bit, and called it a day. he looked fine. ish.
and no sooner than the man was wondering if he needed sunscreen (her burned easily, okay?) and scrawling a quick note to his girlfriend before sticking in on the fridge, that he the familiar sounding voice. “hey sweetie!” he said, wearing his biggest smile and patting the little girl on the head, his eyes moving from her to her guardian who was waiting near her car. “hey scarlett. how are you two doing?” he called out to her, grinning at her before stepping outside and locking the door, before scooping the kid up and walking down the short path with her on his back, then gently placing her in front of scarlett. maybe being a dad wouldn’t be so bad. “so this is the car?” he asked, his eyes sweeping over the car. maybe andy wasn’t a big car guy - but he still a guy, and knew how to appreciate it.

all my life i've been looking for the answers,to the questions you never asked, AND WE NEVER PLANNED ON THIS DISASTER, WHEN WILL I LET IT GO. It was nice to be able to talk to someone she hadn’t seen in quite a while. Of course she always had his cell phone number and knew where he lived, but Scarlett also knew that Andy was really busy just lately; trying to make it alone in the music business (as was she). Yet he somehow always managed to find time for Scarlett and Emily in his hectic schedule; which was definitely amazing. The red head always thought that it had something to do with the fact that they were very close friends- having been in ‘burn some memories’ together for a year or so before he went his own way and everything started to happen to Scarlett. So yeah, it was definitely nice to be able to see him and spend some more time with him. Though apparently the caffeine was still coursing through her veins even as she leaned against the hood of her car and waited for her best friend to answer the door. Her leg was twitching, her foot beating out a small chord on the gravel beneath her feet. A warm smile adoring her unusually pale face.
Suddenly conscious of what she was wearing as Emily skipped up the path to Andy’s house, her green eyes subconsciously moved down her chosen attire. Boyfriend fit shorts and a white print tee with a black cardigan type thing over the top. Her trademark red Vans still attached to her feet and her hair down as usual. There was a little breeze as she stood, almost, still against her shiny new car. Emily’s long flowing hair blowing around her unblemished four year old face. Yeah, it was definitely going to be a good day; she could tell already.
Scarlett watched as the door finally opened and Andy came into view; his hair was the first thing she took note of before his hand patting Emily’s head (the girl squealed with delight), and then his focus on herself. She smiled, nodded politely and opened her mouth to speak. ”We’re doing good, thanks, Andy; how about you and your girl?” the red head uncrossed her legs and pushed herself off of her car with the palms of her hands, she then took two steps forwards and pressed a button on her keys to unlock the car. The sound of giggling from behind distracted her slightly from the opening of the door for Emily (who always sat at the back, either in the middle or behind the passenger seat).
”Of course this is the car, were you expecting a Ferrari?” Scarlett joked lightly and finished opening the door for Emily; who jumped in and moved over to her seat. ”Can Uncle Andy sit in the back with me?” Emily asked. Scarlett looked over at Andy and then to Emily. ”Well, I don’t mind if he sits at the back with you, but it’s up to him, sweetie.” She smiled, climbing into the car to help Emily with her seatbelt. Once that was done Andy and Scarlett piled into the car and they were half way down the road with Emily’s voice beaming over the sound of the radio (which, for some reason, wouldn’t go very loud). The sun was shining a little too much on the window and Scarlett wished she had her sunglasses.
”So, where are we going?” Looking into the mirror, Scarlett smiled at Andy, then at Emily and brushed her hair out of her eyes. Up ahead was a road block and a diversion. Silently kicking herself for going that way, Scarlett flicked the indicator and was just about to turn left when a car came out of nowhere and slammed into her side of the car. Searing pain coursed through her body as her head slammed into the steering wheel and another car collided with the other side of her car- Emily’s side. The four year old screamed but Scarlett heard nothing. Then there was deafening silence.
What had happened to Andy..?
