was god real? well, sometimes dickie did wonder and whatever dickie had done to please him was a mystery. everything seemed to just keep going his way. his companies were rolling well and now, he wasnt even running them properly, simply hiring other to run them for him which dickie rolled in the profits. fate, destiny or god? either way, he wasnt really complaining. occasionally he moaned about having to travel to different countries to sort out contracts and all other, different business but this weekend, he hadnt so much as had a call on his cell from any of his four companies. it was nice to know that the people he was paying to sort most things out were doing a decent job. otherwise by now they'd have hit a million and one problems and would have been made redundant by dickie. alas, everything was perfectly fine in mr albright's life.
he smiled as brynne's message was recieved through his phone accepting his offer of a coffee. he tossed it down on his bed and looked at the clock, he had an hour. well, he needed ten minutes to get there, but that didnt really count. knowing girls, she'd probably be a little late anyway. all the same, he wouldnt be. it was always best to make a good impression on new people. he had a quick five minute shower and dried himself off. pulling on some white trousers over his calvin klein boxers he ran his hands through his hair a couple of times, encouraging it to dry while strolling over to his wardrobe again and throwing open the doors. yet again, he thought about it quite carefully, first impressions and all that jazz. he finally chose a green polo shirt and a navy blue jumper.
glancing at the clock he saw that all in all, he'd judged his time quite well. grabbing a comb he sleeked his hair back but not so much to look business-like. he looked himself once over in the mirror and jogged down the stairs, hopping at the bottom to put his socks on and then picking up a pair of plimsoles. finally he grabbed a slice of bread and spread some strawberry jam on and headed for the door, grabbing his wallet and a navy, military coat on the way. locking up after himself he set off towards starbucks and brynne.
a brisk walk kept dickie quite warm against the breezy day and he found himself outside starbucks in no time at all. in fact, it almost caught him by suprise. dickie was a starbucks addict, simple as, it was always there when he needed it. however, he was never usually in this branch. sure, he'll have starbucks tea and a brownie all over america and england, but he never really stuck to one certain branch because he was never in the same place more than three times and he never really needed a quite snack when he was at home. he pushed open the door with a small lazy moan that old men do when their getting up. smiling at himself he walked up to the counter. a young male offered his service and dickie looked up at the menu. "i'll have a... huge pot of tea and a shortbread biscuit and a double chocolate cip muffin please." and grinned. god, he knew he looked like such a pig, and to be honest, that adjudication wasnt far from the truth, dickie loved his food. end of.
the youth set to work and dickie moved back a little to let the next person in the queue order. he looked around the rest of the store. it wasnt too busy, which was probably a good thing. dickie didnt really like crowds. you could never hear what anyone's saying while everyone else is talking. simply ridiculous. "...er, sir?" came a voice from behind him. dickie turned and took the tray of his order and walked across to the only window table left. was it wrong to like to watch the world go by? even if it was, dickie didnt care. he found some people extremely amusing to watch. the different walks, the different facial expressions. it was all so much fun to watch.
he carefully placed the teapot, sup and saucer and his food off the tray and placed the tray on an empty table behind him when all of a sudden "hey! sorry i'm a little late." dickie looked up at the owner of the voice. "ahh, brynne." he smiled, his english accent obvious "dont worry about it, i only just got here." he started to pour some tea into his mug where his milk already lay. he stirred it as brynne spoke again "so, uh, how are you?"
